  LIBYA 2006: History

A unique opportunity awaits friends of astronomy on the 29th of March 2006. At high noon local time the moon will block out the view on the sun resulting in a total eclipse in the south of Libya lasting a little over 4 minutes.

The Oasis Jalu (Libya), located 500 km south of Benghazi and lies in the center of this rare event. The ECLIPSE CAMP will be set up especially for this occasion. This campsite represents the ultimate location to observe the sky at night in the Sahara and to view this extraordinary event in the middle of the desert.

Another Camp has been set up in Waw An-Namus (Libya) to view this event as close as possible to the central line.

Due to extreme seclusion of the location we organize well-equipped tours, to bring you to the perfect spot on time.

Libya is known as a very safe country for travellers. We have official permission from the Libyan government as well as full guarantee for the safety of tourists watching the eclipse.

The superb conditions in the Sahara offer the ultimate viewing opportunities for this exhilarating event.

You will be able to enjoy this highlight as close to its center as possible.

Our third viewing point in As Sallum (Egypt) at the border of Egypt and Libya will be another very pleasant place to view this spectacular event in the North African region.

During your stay in Egypt we offer the possibility for an additional trip to Cairo and upper Egypt.
